TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — A state senator said that she had drafted legislation designed to keep Michigan’s wetlands protection program alive at least a couple more years, instead of eliminating it to save money.
Sen. Patricia Birkholz, who chairs the Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs Committee, told The Associated Press Wednesday that she hoped to introduce the measure Thursday and begin hearings next week.
